A Modern Life Illustrated

I love these mixed media, pen and gouache pieces. They are so comforting and familiar. The patterns, the scenes, the everyday happenings of normal life. Russian born artist, Yelena Bryksenkova, is inspired by the comforts of home. Warm blankets, wallpapers, cats, houseplants, with an occasional melancholic theme, these tiny pieces are everything I want in an illustration. Depicting everyday life certainly isn’t a new idea but the current trend of bold patterns, muted colors, and busy almost flat scenes is definitely a theme I’m happy with.

To see more of Bryksenkova’s work head over to her website and Instagram.
